Baseball Recap: Nathan Hale Takes a Loss

Nathan Hale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chief Sealth Seahawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seahawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 last Monday.

Andrew Goodman was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Goodman was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Finn Leach was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Nathan Hale: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 3-4-1 otherwise. Julian Gonzalez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Nathan Hale's record is now 5-5-1. As for Chief Sealth, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Nathan Hale will challenge Rainier Beach at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.67 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Chief Sealth, they will welcome Ingraham at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
