Basketball Game Preview: Mitchell Kernels vs. Spearfish Spartans

Mitchell has won three straight games at home, while Spearfish has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 1:30 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Mitchell got the win against Sturgis Brown by a conclusive 50-30. The Kernels haven't had any issues with the Scoopers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Spearfish beat Huron 62-52 on Friday.

Spearfish has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points over those games. As for Mitchell, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.

Mitchell beat Spearfish 54-43 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does Mitchell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Spearfish turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
