Basketball Recap: Aquinas' Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Aquinas had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They managed a 43-39 win over the Archbishop Bergan Knights. For the Monarchs, this counts as revenge for the 58-51 victory the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Aquinas' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Faith Samek, who went 11 of 20 en route to 25 points. Samek is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ainsley Wollmer, who posted four points in addition to 15 rebounds and four blocks.

Aquinas pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Archbishop Bergan, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Aquinas wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-42 defeat against Bishop Neumann on the 17th. Archbishop Bergan has also already played their next contest, a 61-30 loss against Lourdes Central Catholic on the 20th.
