Basketball Recap: Noah Sabodor's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lake Central over La Porte

Lake Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 65-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the La Porte Slicers. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Slicers are ranked 91st).

Lake Central lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Noah Sabodor, who posted 19 points. Zachary Greene was another key player, going 6 for 11 on his way to 16 points.

La Porte got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Griffin Ott-Large out in front who went 7 of 16 on his way to 23 points and six assists. Ott-Large's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nic Spence, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards.

Lake Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for La Porte, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4.

Lake Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-59 defeat against Harrison on the 11th. As for La Porte, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chesterton at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th.
