League recap: Crossen breaks off league-leading run for Northampton County

1A Conference 9 recap September 10, 2013

Northampton County's Keion Crossen recorded the longest rushing play in 1A Conference 9 this season in his game against Granville Central last week. Crossen's team beat the Panthers as he sprinted for 94 yards on the play and finished with 419 in all.

Riverside was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Riverside vanquished South Creek 41-30 earlier in the week.

Asim McGill's team's dynamic duo of Clay Wagner and Daniel Everett proved tough for South Creek to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wagner threw for 106 yards and Everett had 85 yards receiving. Kyle Leggett helped Riverside's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 24 yards.

Riverside's dynamic duo of Wagner and Everett proved to be unstoppable against Jeremy Jones' team, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Crossen was a force in the backfield as Northampton County topped Granville Central.

Crossen was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Waquel Ponton added to the ground attack by rushing for 62 yards.

Everett was the best wideout in 1A Conference 9 this week as Riverside bested South Creek.

Iran James made the biggest impact on defense this week as Riverside bested South Creek. The 5-foot-10 senior grabbed 2.0 sacks.

Crossen provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Jaguars beat John Hammett's team.

Wagner put up the best numbers through the air as Riverside topped South Creek.

Riverside's Wagner and Everett have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Wagner has thrown for 233 yards this season, while Everett has 5 catches for 120 yards. Northampton County's Crossen leads the league in rushing yards with 560.

Rocky Mount Prep fell to Louisburg 54-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
