Baseball Game Preview: Slidell Tigers vs. Zachary Broncos

For the second straight game, Slidell will face off against Zachary. The Tigers will face off against the Broncos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Slidell 2.5, Zachary 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Slidell is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Zachary, sneaking past 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Brayden Calamari was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played.

Calamari wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Charles Burdett, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

Zachary has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 21-15-1 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Slidell, their win bumped their record up to 25-10.
