Softball Game Preview: Mineola Yellowjackets vs. Quitman Bulldogs

Mineola is 8-2 against Quitman since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Mineola will host Quitman at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mineola has three straight wins, Quitman has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Mineola made easy work of Eustace and carried off a 21-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Jadelyn Marshall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Marshall was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Journie Wilson was a standout: she fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mahayla McMahon, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Mineola kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive contests.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Quitman lost 10-3 to Eustace.

Quitman's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Mineola, their win bumped their record up to 10-8-2.

Everything went Mineola's way against Quitman when the teams last played on March 7th, as Mineola made off with a 23-4 victory. Does Mineola have another victory up their sleeve, or will Quitman turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
