Preview: Bellmont Braves vs. Huntington North Vikings
Bellmont is 1-8 against Huntington North since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Bellmont Braves will head out on the road to face off against the Huntington North Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Huntington North took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bellmont, who comes in off a win.
Even though Bellmont has not done well against Norwell recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Bellmont snuck past Norwell with a 51-45 victory.
Meanwhile, Huntington North struggled with assists on Thursday (Fort Wayne Canterbury had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Huntington North took a 55-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fort Wayne Canterbury. Huntington North has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, Huntington North saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dalton Husband, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Ethan Zahn was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Bellmont pushed their record up to 12-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Huntington North, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
Bellmont couldn't quite finish off Huntington North when the teams last played back in January of 2023 and fell 49-47. Thankfully for Bellmont, Aric Hosler (who scored 13 points along with eight assists and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
