Basketball Recap: Holmdel Comes Up Short

Holmdel lost against Red Bank Catholic back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Holmdel Hornets were dealt a 65-23 defeat at the hands of the Red Bank Catholic Caseys. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-8.

Tessa Carman was nothing short of spectacular for Red Bank Catholic: she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Carman a new career-high in blocks (five). Addy Nyemchek was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven steals.

Holmdel has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Red Bank Catholic, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 19-4.

Holmdel has already played their next match (against Red Bank Regional), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Red Bank Catholic will be playing at home against St. John-Vianney at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
