Baseball Game Preview: Pickens Blue Flame vs. Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers

The Pickens Blue Flame will square off against the Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Having struggled with six losses in a row dating back to last season, Pickens turned things around against Blue Ridge on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Fighting Tigers 5-4.

Pickens got a great performance from Lucas Torres as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Torres has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jayden Ferguson was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Cam Wilson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Blue Ridge's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Pickens, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
