Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Charter Comes Up Short

Cornerstone Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 48-30 to the Alleghany Trojans. The Cardinals were down 40-19 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Cornerstone Charter's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Alleghany, the win snapped their losing streak at 19 games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-7 record.

Cornerstone Charter and Alleghany could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Cornerstone Charter (ranked 410th) will meet Phoenix Academy (ranked 115th) at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Similarly, Alleghany (ranked 496th) will meet Surry Central (ranked 147th) at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
