Basketball Game Preview: Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers vs. Reed-Custer Comets

The Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers will face off against the Reed-Custer Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Joliet Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Wilmington, sneaking past 36-33.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Reed-Custer). They enjoyed a cozy 48-33 victory over Coal City on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 19-19 at the break, but the Comets were the (much) better team in the second half.

Reed-Custer's win came from a few key players Joliet Catholic will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Alyssa Wollenzien, who posted 22 points and four steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gwen Stewart, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.

Joliet Catholic's win bumped their record up to 7-25. As for Reed-Custer, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-15.
