Basketball Recap: Jeralynn Sevaaetasi Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Kentlake

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Decatur's strategy against Kentlake on Friday. The Decatur Golden Gators blew past the Kentlake Falcons 59-38. The Golden Gators pushed the score to 48-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Falcons had little chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Decatur to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeralynn Sevaaetasi, who went 5 of 11 en route to 19 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Sevaaetasi a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (60%). Jayda Thomas was another key player, going 10 for 21 to rack up 25 points.

Decatur's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Kentlake, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-17.

Looking ahead, Decatur will challenge Bellarmine Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kentlake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
