After a string of 17 wins dating back to last season, El Dorado's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Sequoia Charter Stallions by a score of 61-58. The match marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

El Dorado lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being MIkai Phipps, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 18 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Phipps is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least four every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Johnson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards.

Even though they lost, El Dorado smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Having lost for the first time this season, El Dorado fell to 7-1. As for Sequoia Charter, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Dorado won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Alta Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in El Dorado's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Sequoia Charter, they will challenge Imagine Prep Coolidge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
