Softball Recap: Edison Beats J.P. Stevens for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Edison strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the J.P. Stevens Hawks a 10-0 shutout. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Jenna Fugate made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Edison got a massive performance out of Casey Della Fave, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Kaylin Kline was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Edison was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Edison's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for J.P. Stevens, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edison will head out to take on Perth Amboy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for J.P. Stevens, they will take on Sayreville at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
