Cleveland proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the West Johnston Wildcats 6-5. This was payback for the Rams, who suffered a 9-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Mason Rodgers looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aubrey Stanley was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Thad Parker also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Cleveland now has a winning record of 3-2. As for West Johnston, they moved to 4-1 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cleveland will challenge Southeast Raleigh at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast Raleigh has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something Cleveland will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for West Johnston, they will take on Fike at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games West Johnston has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
