Football Recap: Starmount Piles Up the Points Against Wilkes Central

While Starmount put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Wilkes Central. The Rams blew past the Eagles 51-0. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 22 points or more this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jymir Billips and Brodie Wright. Billips rushed for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries while Wright rushed for 82 yards and three scores on only nine carries. Those 200 rushing yards gave Billips a new career-high. Cody Hernandez also helped with two TDs in total.

Starmount was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 374 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Starmount didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Aamir Adams, Landry Mathis, and Savian Billips picked up one apiece.

The victory made it two in a row for Starmount and bumps their season record up to 7-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.0 points over those games. As for Wilkes Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Coming up, Starmount will take on Ashe County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams will be up against the Huskies' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.67 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Wilkes Central, they will head out on the road to square off against East Wilkes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups.
