Basketball Recap: Henderson Collegiate Falls Despite Big Games from Deion Lemay and Jayson Baskerville

Henderson Collegiate lost against Excelsior Classical Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Henderson Collegiate Pride took a 57-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Excelsior Classical Academy Flying Lions.

Henderson Collegiate's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayson Baskerville, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 17 points and six boards, and Deion Lemay, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Lemay has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times he's played. Aden Branche was another key player, putting up five points and five rebounds.

It was another big night for Hunter Goss, who almost dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 21 boards, and nine blocks for Excelsior Classical Academy. The dominant performance gave Goss a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Tyler Hill, who posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Henderson Collegiate has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Excelsior Classical Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-6.

Henderson Collegiate will head out to take on Eno River Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eno River Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season. As for Excelsior Classical Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cristo Rey Research Triangle at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Excelsior Classical Academy is facing Cristo Rey Research Triangle at the right time seeing as Cristo Rey Research Triangle is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
