Basketball Recap: Spaulding Comes Up Short

Spaulding made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lamoille, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Crimson Tide fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 53-50 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Crimson Tide can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Vermont basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Lancers are ranked second).

Alyssa Small was a one-woman wrecking crewfor Lamoille as she dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Small continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Baisley, who posted 11 points.

Spaulding has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Lamoille, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Spaulding will challenge rival U-32 at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Lamoille is set to take on their familiar foe North Country Union at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
