The Nazarene Christian Academy Lions are on the road again on Friday and play against Prestonwood Christian North at 7:30 p.m. on November 24th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Nazarene Christian Academy had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by the Fighting Crusaders on the road to the tune of 52-6. That's two games straight that Nazarene Christian Academy has won by exactly 46 points.
It was another big night for Dominic Johnson, who rushed for 162 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Chandler Luedtke was another key contributor, picking up 82 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Prestonwood Christian North waltzed into Friday's contest with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They blew past Christian Heritage 56-8 on the road. Given Prestonwood Christian North's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Christian Heritage is ranked 88th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Prestonwood Christian North's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayden Wood, who rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and also picked up 75 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Richardson, who gained 100 total yards and four touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Nazarene Christian Academy to 10-2 and Azle Christian to 8-4.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as Nazarene Christian Academy and Prestonwood Christian North haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Nazarene Christian Academy commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 8.8 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Prestonwood Christian North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Nazarene Christian Academy suffered a grim 52-28 defeat to Prestonwood Christian North in their previous meeting back in October. Can Nazarene Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
