Baseball Recap: Boulder Comes Up Short

Boulder lost to Riverdale Ridge back in May of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Panthers fell just short of the Ravens by a score of 15-14.

Finn Torvik was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, Maks Matheson and Sam Skubic stepped up to the plate in a big way. Matheson went 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Skubic went 3-for-6 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Matheson has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Max Daily was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and one run.

Boulder's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-4. As for Riverdale Ridge, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-5.

Coming up, Boulder will challenge Horizon at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.78 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Riverdale Ridge, they will host Brighton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
