Baseball Recap: North Clay/Clay City's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

North Clay/Clay City extended their winning streak to six on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 20-6 in the process. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Tuscola Warriors a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for North Clay/Clay City, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Cayden Craig, who gave up just four hits to keep Tuscola off the board. Craig has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carder Walden, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Ian Jones was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

As for Tuscola, their loss dropped their record down to 12-19. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

On Tuscola's side, Jon Pettry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

North Clay/Clay City didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-0 win against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City on the 19th. As for Tuscola, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 8-3 victory against St. Teresa on the 21st.
