Baseball Game Preview: Hiawatha Hawks vs. Indian Creek Timberwolves

Hiawatha is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Indian Creek a 16-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Hiawatha Hawks will welcome the Indian Creek Timberwolves at 4:30 p.m. Hiawatha will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Hiawatha is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They skirted past Durand/Pecatonica 22-20. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hawks as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Hiawatha got a massive performance out of Logan Brush, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. What's more, Brush posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April. Another player making a difference was Aidan Cooper, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Hiawatha always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Indian Creek lost 11-2 to Orangeville on Friday.

Zakory Nelson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Kason Murry was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Indian Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 0-21. As for Hiawatha, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.

Hiawatha suffered a grim 18-2 defeat to Indian Creek in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
