Baseball Recap: Dysart Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Dysart won against Cortez on Monday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Demons put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 14-1 win. Considering the Demons have won eight games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Aaron Olivas made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Jamarian (JJ) Johnson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Dysart: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-10 otherwise. John Amparan was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Dysart always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cortez only posted an OBP of .316.

The victory (which was Dysart's fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cortez, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dysart will welcome Greenway at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cortez, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Glendale at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
