Football Recap: Timpview Falls to West in First Game of Season

Timpview had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a blow against the West Panthers on Friday, falling 50-23. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2016.

Despite the defeat, Timpview saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Duncan Strong picked up a sack and made 15 total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

Timpview didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Makay Trail, Strong, and Braxton Wilkerson picked up one apiece.

Louie Hamilton went supernova For West., rushing for 328 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Those 328 rushing yards gave Hamilton a new career-high. Kamden Lopati was another major influence, as he rushed for 78 yards and ran in a TD.

Timpview wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 48-25 loss against American Fork on the 22nd. As for West, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-0 win against Timpanogos on the 22nd.
