Softball Recap: Taft Comes Up Short

If Taft was riding high fresh off their 13-3 takedown of West Oso last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Greyhounds fell just short of the Odem Owls by a score of 7-5 on Friday. The Greyhounds were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Owls earlier this season, when they won 10-9.

Juliana Alaniz was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

The defeat snapped Taft's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-9 record. As for Odem, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-14 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Taft will challenge rival Mathis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Greyhounds are on a four-game streak of home wins, the Pirates a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. Meanwhile, Odem is set to square off against their familiar foe George West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
