Volleyball Recap: Dracut Middies vs. Haverhill Hillies
Dracut was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Haverhill Hillies. The Middies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hillies earlier this season, when they won 3-1.
Dracut was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Haverhill work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 22-25, 25-17, 17-25, 15-8.
Logan Phousengthong paced Dracut's offense, picking up 15 kills. Phousengthong got some help from Alexander Sophuok and his 30 assists. Phousengthong also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Jacob Louk, racking up three apiece.
Dracut's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Haverhill, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dracut will venture away from home to face off against North Andover at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Haverhill, they will head out to challenge Methuen at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rangers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Hillies surely won't give up without a fight.
