Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Vista Grande Spartans

The Mountain View Mountain Lions will head out to face off against the Vista Grande Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vista Grande took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mountain View, who comes in off a win.

Mountain View hadn't beaten Marana on the road since April 13, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Mountain Lions narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Tigers 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mountain Lions have posted since March 12, 2024.

Aundre Hill was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Elliott Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mountain View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Vista Grande came up short against Maricopa on Thursday and fell 4-1. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Vista Grande saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ramzy Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

With the win, Mountain View broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-17. As for Vista Grande, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12-1.
