Basketball Game Preview: Clarkdale Bulldogs vs. Lake Hornets

Clarkdale is 0-7 against Lake since January of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Clarkdale Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Lake Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Neither Clarkdale nor Lake posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Clarkdale is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 33rd straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 56-9 loss at the hands of Bay Springs. While losing is never fun, Clarkdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while Bay Springs is ranked 43rd).

Meanwhile, Lake lost to Newton at home by a 39-20 margin on Tuesday. The match marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Lake has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for Clarkdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-19.

Clarkdale might still be hurting after the 68-46 loss they got from Lake in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Clarkdale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
