Basketball Recap: Ontario Christian Takes a Loss

Ontario Christian and Esperanza squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Ontario Christian had to settle for second. They took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Esperanza Aztecs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 65-58 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2021.

Despite the loss, Ontario Christian still got an impressive performance from Cash Marshall, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Marshall a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Jones, who posted 11 points.

Even though they lost, Ontario Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.

Ontario Christian's record now sits at 15-14. As for Esperanza, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

Ontario Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Esperanza, they will face off against San Dimas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Dimas will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Esperanza surely won't give up without a fight.
