Volleyball Recap: Aubrey Spear Key Part of Team Effort in Patriots Win

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Seeger and Attica have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Patriots blew past the Red Ramblers 3-0. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Seeger was: they took every set by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-2, 25-8.

Seeger's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aubrey Spear led the charge by getting ten digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Spear a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aubry Herbert, who had ten digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Seeger was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in six consecutive matches.

Seeger's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Attica, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Seeger will be playing in front of their home fans against Parke Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Attica, they are taking a road trip to challenge Crawfordsville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
