Softball Recap: Green Sea Floyds Comes Up Short

Green Sea Floyds has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.94 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They lost 11-3 to the Johnsonville Flashes. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Trojans have suffered since March 12th.

Maci Collins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and eight unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Reagan Cox made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Green Sea Floyds' loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Johnsonville, their record is now 7-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Green Sea Floyds will square off against Latta at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. After both having extra time off, Johnsonville and Lake City will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on the 30th. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.17 runs per game on average), something the Flashes will no doubt try to take advantage of.
