Basketball Recap: Janilla Hanson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cheney Tech over Prince RVT

Cheney Tech suffered their closest loss since December 14, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of the Prince RVT Falcons by a score of 47-45. The defeat continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now lost four in a row.

Cheney Tech's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janilla Hanson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. That's the most points Hanson has posted since back in January of 2024. Trinity Hazel was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Cheney Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Prince RVT, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cheney Tech will venture away from home to face off against Classical Magnet at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Cheney Tech is facing Classical Magnet at the right time seeing as Classical Magnet is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Prince RVT has already played their next contest (against Windham RVT), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
