Recap: Central Lancers vs. Carver High School of Engineering & Science
The Central Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 63-50 to Carver High School of Engineering & Science. While losing is never fun, Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 571st, while Carver High School of Engineering & Science is ranked 104th).
Despite the defeat, Central saw an underclassman step up: Yamir Knight-parker scored 16 points. Knight-parker has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Brown, who scored 11 points.
Carver High School of Engineering & Science got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Samir Roberts-mouzon out in front who scored nine points along with three steals. Roberts-mouzon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Anthony Brown was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Central has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Carver High School of Engineering & Science, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3.
Central will face off against George Washington at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. George Washington is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52 points per game. As for Carver High School of Engineering & Science, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Vaux Big Picture at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
