Soccer Recap: Westland Comes Up Short

Westland and Hamilton Township pushed the score to 7-1 the last time they played Hamilton Township, but on Monday defenses reigned supreme. The Cougars fell just short of the Rangers by a score of 1-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Westland of the 7-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2019.

This is the second loss in a row for Westland and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Hamilton Township, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2-1 record this season.

Westland and Hamilton Township could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Cougars will square off against Westerville North at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (394 vs. 60). Meanwhile, Hamilton Township (ranked 308th) will meet Liberty Union (ranked 152nd) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
