Basketball Recap: Douglas Byrd Comes Up Short

Douglas Byrd was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. They were beaten by the Jack Britt Buccaneers 67-40. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Buccaneers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 60-48 loss back in January.

Jack Britt's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Tubbs led the charge by putting up nine points and seven rebounds. What's more, Tubbs also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Ryan Lord was another key player, going 6-for-9 en route to 13 points.

Douglas Byrd's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Jack Britt, their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.

Douglas Byrd has already played their next matchup, a 69-48 loss against Purnell Swett on the 11th. As for Jack Britt, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 69-64 win against Gray's Creek on the 11th.
