League recap: Meade climbs in standings with win

Meade was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to second in Anne Arundel County. The Mustangs vanquished South River 45-22 earlier in the week.

North County lost to Chesapeake 59-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Northeast's Tyler Curtin and Sergio Andino have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Southern's Dejuan Neal leads the league in rushing yards with 414.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Meade and Old Mill. Rich Holzer's team comes into the matchup ranked 15th in the state, while the Patriots ranks ninth.

Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Eagles' Andino goes up against the Bulldogs' Neal.

Next week's game between Northeast and Southern will feature an aerial matchup as Curtin tests his arm against Neal's defensive ability.

The league will see a high scoring game when Russell Meyers' team and Ken Fowler's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Bulldogs comes in having scored 77 this season, while the Eagles have scored 35. Southern scored 21 points last week as it lost to Severna Park.

Glen Burnie made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,930 from 7,878. The improvement came about via a 14-7 victory over Northeast last week.
