For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Emporia and West meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Spartans came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 2-0. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Emporia was: they took both sets by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-14.

Jade Xu paced Emporia's offense, picking up seven kills. Xu got some help from Kaylee DeWitt and her 18 assists. DeWitt was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Emporia's victory bumped their record up to 17-12. As for West, their loss dropped their record down to 11-15-3.

Emporia didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Topeka on the 14th. As for West, they will square off against Leavenworth at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
