Wolcott took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Naugatuck, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Greyhounds 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since May 28, 2024.

Avery Malenfant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Wolcott saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Shea, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Shea has snagged this season.

Wolcott's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Naugatuck, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
