Softball Recap: Ponchatoula Beats Haynes Academy for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Ponchatoula waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over Haynes Academy. The result was nothing new for the Green Wave, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Abby Dagro was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Demi Sanchez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Ponchatoula kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.

Ponchatoula's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Haynes Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Ponchatoula has already played their next matchup (against Archbishop Chapelle), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Haynes Academy, they will square off against Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Haynes Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
