Basketball Game Preview: Del Valle Cardinals vs. Westlake Chaparrals

Del Valle hasn't had much luck against Westlake recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Del Valle Cardinals will challenge the Westlake Chaparrals at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Del Valle came up into this matchup off a tough 29-point loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Dripping Springs by a score of 46-44 on Tuesday. The Cardinals' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Westlake's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost to Lake Travis on the road by a 67-50 margin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Chaparrals came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 217th).

Westlake's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-7. As for Del Valle, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-14.

Del Valle came up short against Westlake when the teams last played on January 7th, falling 60-52. Can Del Valle avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
