Softball Preview: Pine Raiders vs. Loranger Wolves
Pine and Loranger are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but likely not for long. The Pine Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Loranger Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Pine had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Doves 16-1.
Meanwhile, Loranger has not done well against St. Scholastica recently (they were 1-7-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Loranger was the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over St. Scholastica. The victory was just what Loranger needed coming off of a 14-4 loss in their prior match.
Pine is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season. As for Loranger, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home.
Pine skirted past Loranger 9-7 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pine since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
