Baseball Game Preview: Brookfield Bulldogs vs. Lawson Cardinals

The Brookfield Bulldogs will square off against the Lawson Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Brookfield will be strutting in after a victory while Lawson will be coming in after a loss.

Brookfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Lexington on Friday as they made off with a 16-2 win. The Bulldogs not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10, 2024 (when they won 18-3).

Brookfield let Brayden Shoop and Trayce Switzer run wild. Shoop went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Switzer went 1-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. Those two runs gave Shoop a new career-high. Westen Davis was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Brookfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lexington struck out 12 times.

Meanwhile, Lawson has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.52 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came up short against Benton, falling 19-3. It was the first time this season that Lawson let down their fans at home.

Brookfield's victory bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Lawson, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-5.

Brookfield couldn't quite get it done against Lawson in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
