Recap: Central Blue Devils vs. St. Thomas Aquinas Trojans
The Central Blue Devils suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Sunday. They had to suffer through a rough 80-50 loss at the hands of St. Thomas Aquinas. Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-22.
When it comes to explaining why Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Malachi Thomas. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Thomas pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mejwad Dixon, who scored nine points.
Central has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will square off against West Side at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Side is on a four-game streak of home losses, Central an eight-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. St. Thomas Aquinas will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against St. Peter's Prep at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. St. Peter's Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. Thomas Aquinas in New Jersey (St. Peter's Prep is ranked fourth, while St. Thomas Aquinas is ranked 72nd).
