Basketball Recap: Blountstown Piles Up the Points Against Wewahitchka

Blountstown waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They really took it to the Wewahitchka Gators for the full four quarters, racking up a 76-47 win. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Gators are ranked 697th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Curtis Ellis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points and seven steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrell Williams, who went 5 of 9 en route to 14 points.

Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rhemy Patrick, who posted 13 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Patrick a new career-high. Bryce Ethridge was another key player, putting up five points in addition to seven boards and four blocks.

Blountstown has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Wewahitchka, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.

Blountstown has already played their next contest, a 58-44 victory against Holmes County on the 20th. As for Wewahitchka, they will square off against Port St. Joe at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wewahitchka is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season.
