Baseball Recap: DeMatha Victorious

While DeMatha's win against Bishop McNamara wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Stags sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Mustangs on Saturday. The Stags haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

DeMatha got a great performance from Grayson Candy as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Candy also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Stags are 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise.

At the plate, DeMatha saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Perlin, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

DeMatha now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Bishop McNamara, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DeMatha will head out to face off against Riverdale Baptist at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bishop McNamara, they will venture away from home to challenge The Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
