Basketball Recap: Great Plains Lutheran Extends Winning Streak to Six

A well-balanced attack led Great Plains Lutheran over Castlewood in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. The Great Plains Lutheran Panthers took down the Castlewood Warriors 42-25. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Great Plains Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Katherine Prahl, who went 5 for 8 en route to 11 points along with five assists and five boards. Prahl is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Abby Kjenstad, who posted 11 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.

Castlewood's loss came despite strong showings from Cassidy Kirwan and Ava Ruml. Kirwan scored ten points, while Ruml put up four points. Kirwan continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Kendra Nielsen also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

The win (which was Great Plains Lutheran's sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.2 points per game. As for Castlewood, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Great Plains Lutheran has already played their next game (against Clark/Willow Lake), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Castlewood has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Canton.
