Softball Recap: Slippery Rock Wins Going Away Against Oil City

Slippery Rock won the last time they faced Oil City and things went their way on Thursday too. The Rockets were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Oilers. The game was the first time the Rockets have beaten the Oilers on their field since May 13, 2021.

Joslyn Korcok made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits (and not a single walk). Korcok was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delaney Staab, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Emma Ritz also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Slippery Rock and bumps their season record up to 5-12. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Oil City, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

As of now, neither Slippery Rock nor the Oilers have any future games scheduled.
