Softball Game Preview: Arcadia Apaches vs. Schurr Spartans

The Arcadia Apaches will face off against the Schurr Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Arcadia is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Downey just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings.

Arcadia saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Fox, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Schurr has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.3 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They fell 10-6 to La Habra. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Samantha Maldonado and Sarah Cervantes stepped up to the plate in a big way. Maldonado went 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Cervantes scored a run while going 2-for-3. Jenna Franklin was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Schurr's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Arcadia, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Arcadia came out on top in a nail-biter against Schurr when the teams last played back in March of 2016, sneaking past 5-4. Will Arcadia repeat their success, or does Schurr have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
