Softball Game Preview: Shepherd Pirates vs. Wheatley Wildcats

For the second straight game, Shepherd will face off against Wheatley. The Pirates will challenge the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shepherd is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Shepherd is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Wheatley get on the board and left with a 19-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Jayci Wilson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Rylei N was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Swayze Nelson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

Shepherd always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .840. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Wheatley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Shepherd, their victory bumped their record up to 24-9.
